COACH EVALUATION:
It continues to be a privilege and pleasure to coach Nathan Kelleher-Crew. Nathan is a special young man who is skilled at baseball, school and life. He was a member of our last two varsity baseball teams. As a freshman on the varsity, Nathan played a huge role in our league and section championships. He was thrust into a tough pressure situation as a ninth grader and responded, pitching and hitting in big ballgames. As long as I known this young man he has responded. He has started both years and earned all-league mention last year. He is the workhorse of our staff, can play infield and outfield, and hit in the five spot last year driving in crucial runs for our section semi-finalist team. He works hard, wants to learn, does the extra necessary things, and loves to compete. On the mound he wants the ball. Enough said. He has great stuff that he is constantly working on, knows the job of a pitcher, and never gives anything but his best for his team and for himself. I have seen his baseball skill and savvy grow with every game and season. He is a great teammate and a pleasure to coach. Nathan continues to shine brightly in the classroom. He is the number one ranked student in his class after the first two years, taking every AP class our school offers, and acing his Calculus class as a freshman, a course normally taken by seniors. He is bright and quick to grasp concepts. Again, as in baseball, he wants to achieve and learn. And he does, never earning less than an A his first two years. As the varsity baseball coach and full-time teacher at Golden Sierra High School for the past 22 years, I have seen only a few with the skills and talent of Nathan. As a young man, Nathan has that figured out as well. Dedicated, cheerful, and responsible, Nathan brings his smile and attitude to everything he does. I will enjoy watching Nathan perform in the classroom and on the field for the rest of high school and beyond.
SCOUTING REPORT:
Scouting Report from Paul Robles Tampa Bay Rays Area Scout as of 7/10/08:
Nathan has been playing for RBI since June 2007. Nathan strives to be the best by working on his weaknesses. Nathan's biggest strength is the ability to pitch in big ball games. Nathan has an above average breaking ball. He has above average command on his fastball with heavy sink. He can hold runners on and he is not afraid to challenge hitters. He is big and strong with much room to grow. I think Nathan will develop into a talented college prospect. Keep in mind, Nathan is only 16 years old.
