Josh Lex
Hello everyone, my name is Josh Lex and I am currently the Head Varsity coach at Laguna Creek High School. I have returned to my High School alma mater and took over as head coach in November of 2010. This will be my first year as a head coach. I’m excited about this upcoming season and can’t wait to get started.
As for my baseball career starting with my High School. I went to Laguna Creek High School where I lead the area with 9 HR and hit .513 as a Senior. I was a three year Varsity player and earned many awards and MVP my Senior year. I was voted onto the California Optimist team in 2000 for Baseball and Football.
I then went to Sacramento City JC. I played two seasons at Sac City where I was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 27th Round of the 2001 MLB Draft after my freshman season. I did a DNF and returned for my sophomore year where I was given a scholarship to Oral Roberts University. As a Sac City Panther my freshman year we took 3rd in the state and as a sophomore we took second in state.
I played two season’s at Oral Roberts University, where as a junior we made it to the Texas A&M Tournament. As for my senior season I hit .330 with 11 Homeruns and 67 RBI’s. Our team had the best D-1 record in the country. We were placed in the Texas university regional where we lost to Texas in the championship game. I was then Drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 28th Round in 2004.
With the Toronto Blue Jays I was there for four years and played in three season’s. My highest level in season was high A and my highest level in spring training was AAA. Although I was hampered with nagging injuries during my three seasons I still did good. After my rookie ball season I was invited to Instructional League. I was released by the Toronto Blue Jays on the last day of spring training in 2007.
After the Toronto Blue Jays I was picked up by the Florence Freedom in the Frontier League. I played two season with the Freedom where I made the All-Star team in 2007. I finished my Professional career with the freedom in 2008 and hit a homerun in my very last Professional AB. It was a great way to end my career as Injuries would come back to get me. I had a great baseball career and now look forward to passing on my knowledge and experience to my high school team and also to the kids at RBI Baseball.
